R House
Dakari Falconer, Daniel Inoa, and Natan Santos created R House to be a clothing design collective that validates and uplifts the work of minority creatives who work in the fashion arena. The name R House is a play on words, signifying “Our House,” or a space in which creatives who are people of color can enjoy creative freedom while feeling liberated from the need for validation from major corporate owned figures within the industry, and avoid the trap of having their ideas appropriated. R House creatives have many viable plans and currently seek additional funding to realize their dreams. R House has explored the way faces create identity in their Spring release, “Faces” and has examined the way clothing expresses a story or a meaning in their recent Summer release, “American Excellence”.
R House has gained success and acclaim through hosting fashion shows featuring the work of the minority creatives in the collective. They plan to continue this activity as soon as it is safe to do so, but for the time being they are not hosting events for mandated health reasons. Instead they hope to replicate their in-person success in the online universe by building up their followers on social media. At the moment, they have an ongoing collaboration with an artist in New York City who has a large social media following, and by aligning their work with influencers of such stature, they hope to elevate other creatives more generally.
